It also has its darker side. Edinburgh is known as the most haunted city in the UK, a reputation it most definitely deserves. From the infamous Mackenzie poltergeist to the quiet yet murderous Corstorphine White Lady, spirits of the dead fill the city air.
Ghosts are relatively benign manifestations compared with some of Edinburgh's other inhabitants, vile creatures living, dead and undead. They are as at home in the city as the normal humans who remain largely ignorant of their presence. In this case, ignorance truly is bliss.
